Christians are not saved by keeping the law, but they are not called to live in lawlessness. They are under God's grace and called to obey Him through faith and love.

Biblical explanation

Paul asks: “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” (). His answer is: “God forbid” (). Paul also says: “Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law” (). Christians are not under the law as a system of condemnation by which they attempt to earn salvation. Christ provides righteousness and forgiveness. But grace produces obedience. Jesus said: “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (). “Not under the law” does not mean “free to sin.” The biblical contrast is between condemnation and grace, not between obedience and disobedience.
