Biblical explanation

The lake of fire appears prominently in Revelation. The beast and false prophet are cast into it (). After the millennium, Satan is cast into the lake of fire (). Then death and Hades are also cast into it. Revelation explains: “This is the second death” (). Finally, those whose names are not in the book of life are cast into the lake of fire (). The lake of fire therefore represents the final eradication of evil. This is confirmed by , which says there will ultimately be no more death, sorrow, crying, or pain. The lake of fire should therefore be understood in the context of God's final victory over sin. It is not presented as an eternal realm that will coexist forever with God's restored creation.
