Satan is called: The Devil: Satan: The tempter: The adversary: The accuser: The deceiver: A murderer and liar: The god of this world: Peter warns believers to remain vigilant: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil… walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (). Paul says believers are not ignorant of Satan's devices (). Yet Satan is not God's equal. He is a created being under God's ultimate authority. The Bible gives Satan significant power, but never presents him as omnipotent, omniscient, or omnipresent. He is powerful, but he is still a creature. His final defeat is certain.
