Biblical explanation
Scripture does not give the date of Jesus' birth or establish an annual festival for it. It does, however, clearly teach the wonder of the incarnation: the eternal Word became flesh and lived among us (). Angels announced Christ's birth, and the event deserves gratitude and worship (). Paul teaches that believers may differ about observing particular days and should act with conviction before the Lord rather than judging one another (). A Christian family may use a holiday season to read the birth narratives, give generously, serve neighbors, and point to Jesus. It should not become an excuse for greed, drunkenness, debt, or pressure to conform.
