The New Testament records numerous cases of demonic possession, particularly among people who were not following Christ. Jesus delivered people from demons (; ). Believers are commanded: “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (). Peter gives the same warning: “Whom resist stedfast in the faith” (). Paul tells believers: “Neither give place to the devil” (). And believers are told to put on the whole armor of God against spiritual forces of evil. The Bible clearly teaches that Christians can face temptation, spiritual attack, deception, and oppression. It does not provide a detailed theological definition of “possession” that answers every modern question. What Scripture does emphasize is where believers should place their confidence: “greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” ().
