The disciples recognized Jesus after His resurrection, even though His body had been glorified. Thomas recognized Him and identified Him as “My Lord and my God” (). Jesus' resurrection therefore demonstrates continuity of personal identity. At the resurrection, believers do not become anonymous beings. Paul says that “this mortal must put on immortality” (). The person remains the person, although transformed. The Bible also describes people sitting with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in God's kingdom (). In the resurrection, believers will recognize the reality of God's family and fellowship. says believers will “be caught up together” to meet Christ and then “ever be with the Lord.” Paul concludes his teaching about resurrection by saying, “Wherefore comfort one another with these words” (). The Christian hope therefore includes restored relationships, although Scripture does not explain every emotional or interpersonal detail of eternal life. The Bible strongly supports personal continuity and recognition, but it does not give a detailed description of every family relationship in eternity.
