Peter describes the prophetic process: “Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (). At times, God explicitly instructed prophets to write His message. For example: “Write thou these words” (). God told Jeremiah: “Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book” (). Revelation likewise instructed John to write what he saw: “What thou seest, write in a book” (). Luke describes another aspect of the process. He investigated eyewitness testimony and arranged his account carefully (). Therefore, Scripture shows several elements working together: Divine revelation The Holy Spirit Human authors Eyewitness testimony Investigation Written records Preservation and transmission The Bible does not describe one single mechanical method by which every book was produced. Some portions were direct prophetic messages. Others include historical research, poetry, wisdom literature, letters, genealogies, visions, and eyewitness testimony. What unites them is the biblical claim that Scripture ultimately comes from God.
