Paul and Barnabas entered the synagogue on the Sabbath in Antioch. After speaking, the people asked them to preach again: “And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God” (). Acts also records Paul reasoning from Scripture on the Sabbath in other cities. In : “And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures” (). says: “And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.” This is especially significant because Paul was preaching to Gentiles as well as Jews. Acts clearly records Sabbath activity by the apostles. It does not record an apostolic command transferring Sabbath holiness to Sunday.
