Biblical explanation
Jesus promised eternal life to His sheep and said that no one could snatch them from His hand (). Paul likewise expressed confidence that God would complete the good work begun in believers (). These passages emphasize God's faithfulness and power. At the same time, Scripture contains serious warnings. warns believers: “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God” (). also warns against deliberate, persistent rejection of truth after receiving knowledge of it. Jesus' parable of the sower describes people who initially receive the word but later fall away (). Jesus also repeatedly calls His followers to endure to the end (; ). The biblical emphasis is therefore not on living in constant fear that God is looking for an opportunity to reject us. It is on remaining connected to Christ. Jesus said, “Abide in me, and I in you” (). Scripture does not teach that a sincere believer loses salvation every time he commits a sin. It does teach the seriousness of persistent unbelief, deliberate rejection, and turning away from Christ.
